In 2014, the department moved to a model new modern state-of-the-art studio facility in the Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts. And in 2020, the Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts was established through philanthropic support, and builds on this system’s long-standing historical past in and assist of the arts and can bolster new studying, scholarship, and arts initiatives. The Performing Arts Department provides a performance-based curriculum in the disciplines of band, orchestra, choir, drama, and dance. The curriculum is sequential, providing a variety of courses from fundamental to superior. The program consists of six bands, three orchestras, five vocal ensembles, four levels of drama lessons, a dance class, and a comprehensive two- and three-dimensional studio art program, in addition to offerings in AP Art History and AP Music Theory. Included in all courses is a grounding in cultural and historic contexts, in addition to aesthetics. Public performances and art exhibitions are held all 12 months long; classroom experiences are enhanced by trips to museums and galleries, as well as regional and worldwide efficiency excursions.
